Last weekend my husband, mom, dad, family friend and I went to the Riverside Food Truck Festival. If you follow my Instagram (thedoeorthedeer) you would already know I ate everything in sight. Burgers, sushi, flatbread, chicken, potatoes, thai, lobster, indian, waffles, macaroni and cheese... Oh and lets not forget the deep fried Oreo. Luckily we were smart enough to share everything, but lets just say that I didn't count my Weight Watchers points that day. The trucks in attendance were pretty fancy in comparison to the trucks Derek and I are used to. We've definitely have had our fair share of "street meat" coming from some pretty tore up looking places. We think the dirtier the better, but I'm sure many of ya'll would disagree with that theology. Ha!
We had VIP tickets, that didn't really mean much, since the VIP tent lacked seating AND air conditioning, as promised. The only positive thing about our tent was the endless amount of drinks... And since it was over 100 degrees that day, it was well appreciated. We also had front row to the Journey coverband... So there was that.
Considering it's the festivals first year, I sure do hope they work out the kinks by next year. Perhaps, better parking, not over-selling VIP tickets, have as many trucks as advertised... Just to name a few kinks. (Perhaps a coordinator is reading this??) Anyways, it was still worth it to go and try all sorts and varieties of foods. My only regret is not getting the bacon wrapped brownie. Mmmmmhmmmmm...
Is there a food truck trend where you live?

Food trucks are something we do not have here. They look pretty freaking awesome though.
They are petitioning to allow them in our downtown area and I hope it works out. They look like so much fun!
I'm so upset I missed this. I didn't even know :(
i just moved to portland a month ago and the number of food trucks is insane. like you, my idea of a food truck always included a cute little mexican lady and "meat" of some sort. don't get me wrong, it was always delicious, but i'm definitely less scared eating off the food trucks here!
i love that top! food trucks are getting pretty big here in boston, my friends run the Roxy's grilled cheese truck(its on food network right now) and i like supporting them. Theres an open market in boston every sunday and there are usually 5-10 trucks there.
i'm still totally jealous. i would have drove to riverside had i known this was going on.
I've noticed there are a lot more going up here in san diego.
oh, and portland. food trucks EVERYWHERE.
The food truck trend has finally hit Vancouver- after the Olympics, but thats fine with me. Im just happy to have something more than hotdog carts. Fish tacos are my favorite.
Hi I'm sorry...did you say bacon wrapped brownie?!!!!!!!!!!!
My mouth is watering just thinking about that.
I WISH WE HAD A FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL TO ATTEND!!!!!!! Maybe the coordinator will not only read your post, but will read this comment:
Plan a festival over here in Erie, PA PLEASE?!
i've been wanting to do the food truck thing, but haven't gotten around to it. i will say, though, when i go i won't be counting my dub dub points either. how can you?!?
The color of that top really suits you. I always like your style, but this outfit is especially cute to me.
Drooling after reading this post... and yep. Good call on not counting points for the day! haha. I do that too when special foods come my way. :)
Hell yes - Just attended my first food truck rally (in North Miami Beach) last Thursday!
We gorged ourselves on empanadas, fish tacos, falafel, brisket sandwiches and churros ... Went home feeling fat and happy :)
Actually blogged about it here --> http://whatnomints.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/miami-food-trucks/
that looks straight up awesome.
deep fried oreos mmmmm!
Oh my, my mouth is watering looking at all of that yummy food! Cute blouse too.
yum yum! god all the food you ate looks so good. btw i love your arm tattoo. I went to new orleans this last june and my two guy friends actually went and bought fake arm tattoos and wore them around the french quarters in the evening. it was hilarious how real they looked xD your blogs pretty cool - i'm following now! :)

naanstop! yess! what a great name. I love clever food truck names.
Last year while in LA I saw one called "Shrimp Pimp"
wow, looks like a great way to try lots of food at once! Although does seem a bit hot still for it, but maybe we just exaggerate things in Phoenix by not going outside until at least October haha.
There is a pretty big food truck group in my town. Charleston, SC. I was gonna start my own a couple years back and it fell through. Now they're all over the place. They have food truck rodeos every month and my sister has hired 2 for her wedding! I can't wait!
Oops, that was from me...damn blackberry
